Seek "The Way"

1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

Often people look at this verse and insert the word "If" as in "If I am tempted"; however, the word should actually be "when" as in "when I am tempted." Paul confirms my thoughts by saying that no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. Each of us will be tempted whether it be initiated by the world or allowed by God so we should expect it and not be surprised when the trials come.

Despite this uneasy truth, we are promised a unique blessing in these circumstances. Paul reminds us that when we are tempted, God will be faithful to us. He will always provide a way out so that we can pull through our circumstances and glorify Him. God will always supply what we need but we are left with the choice to either seek His way, "The Way", or buckle to the ways of the world. There is one right way out of each trial and it is to our benefit that we seek God's Way in every tempting or tumultuous situation.

God will do His part but what about our part? What are we expected to do in these situations? 1 Corinthians 16:13 perfectly answers that question. Paul says, "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong." 1 John 4:1-6 reminds us also that the Holy Spirit lives inside of us and has given us the power to recognize truth so that we can follow it in these trying times. So what if the trial is so challenging that there seems to be no way out? The Bible tells us to hang on. The world's way should not be an option for us, we will live to regret it. We're called to trust God and have faith! He works in ways we can't see or even imagine and He lives to prove His faithfulness to us.

As Followers of Jesus Christ, we are never without resources, my friend, never; however, we must choose God's Way of escape. Stand firm on the foundation that He has laid in your heart and trust Him. Have faith and in His timing He will lead the way out so you can tell of His unwavering faithfulness!
