Everything We Sow Will Bear Fruit

Galatians 6:8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

This principal in this scripture is described using farming practices. When you sow or plant the seed, you will reap what you sow. If you sow cucumbers, you will reap cucumbers not lima beans. If you sow corn, you will reap corn, not squash. The sowing and reaping process is a long arduous process. It involves waiting and watching and watering and weeding and waiting some more. The sowing and reaping in our own lives can also be a long process.

There are times when we are involved in ungodly practices and do not see an immediate response from God and might think that because of the delay there will be no consequence; however, God is patient and we may not see the consequence until later down the road. Then there are times when we cooperate with the Holy Spirit and seek to please God but don’t see an immediate result and we wonder if it matters at all. I promise that it does matter. God knows every little move we make, every little word we speak and every little thought that comes into our minds but His timing is different than ours.

The Truth is that both harvests will come. Many crops take a long time to bear fruit but they most assuredly will bear fruit. If we sow to the Spirit, we will reap a bountiful harvest in which not only we will be blessed but our families, our businesses, our sisters and brothers etc. as well. Anyone we impact will be blessed in some way. In the book of Romans, Chapter 1, Verses 5-8 Paul discusses how when we use ungodly practices, we are storing up wrath against ourselves for the day of God’s wrath, when His righteous judgment will be revealed. On that day people will ultimately reap the harvest of their selfish sinful practices.

God will repay each person according to what they have done. For those who are self-seeking, who reject the Truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. To those who by persistence in doing good seek to give glory and honor to God, they will receive eternal life. So, let us keep in step with the Spirit and in due time we will see the harvest if we reap and faint not!

Dear Lord,

Heighten our senses to be able to discern whatever is excellent and praise worthy. We desire our lives to be all about you! May others see something in us that draws them closer to you and makes them yearn to know why, how, and who we live for. Help us to be one with Your Spirit and always align ourselves with the Truth! Give us the unwavering ability to stand firm at all times and to boldly share Your story whenever possible. To You be the glory forever and ever.

Amen
