He Is Faithfulness!

Deuteronomy 7:9-10 ""Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His loving kindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments; . . ."

Faithfulness was heavily on my mind this morning remembering a weekend full of family and fun. We celebrated Father's Day in June with a man who has been a devoted, life long husband, father and grandfather to us all. Though I know that the word "Father" can be very subjective depending on our experiences, something that gives me great comfort is that God's faithfulness is never in question. God's faithfulness is dependable, absolute, perfect, constant, unwavering, steady, unchanging and steadfast. When He says something will happen, it will happen, When He says He will do something, you can be sure He will do it. God does not have to work to be faithful because He is FAITHFULNESS. If He were anything but faithful, He would not be God.

Faithfulness is a very important word in the Bible. It is translated from the Greek word "pistis" which carries the meaning of trustworthiness and reliability. Just in the New Testament alone, a form of the word appears between 56 & 95 times depending on the version of the Bible you are reading. The repetition speaks to the importance of the word not only for our benefit but for the people of the day. God's faithfulness is not only reassuring but it is a source of encouragement especially in these days when we see faithfulness in relationships waning. Often we see that people are faithful if there is something in it for them but the moment they find that they can not gain anything, they are gone. They easily break their commitments and move on to the next challenge.

My friends, God is always faithful no matter the circumstances. He is in this relationship with you for the long haul. He can not take leave, He can not break His commitment to you. It is not in His nature to do so. You are His beloved and there is no way that He would do anything or say anything that would give you any indication of anything other than His devoted best. We can always count on Him to be there through thick and thin, through disappointments and victories, through celebrations and uncertainties. Get into God's Word and read about how He worked in the lives of Noah, Moses, Joseph, etc. to give yourself a little encouragement and perspective.

So much of the anguish we deal with on a daily basis is caused by our choosing to feed our minds with toxic thoughts and untruths. We try to control our circumstances instead of trusting in God and surrendering completely to His care. The Truth is found in Psalm 47:39-40. “But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him." You do not have to lose one more night sleep wondering about the faithfulness of God, dear friend. Trust Him, open your mind, your heart, and your hands. Surrender all of who you are to the one who truly saves! Then stand back and watch and see the goodness of the Lord work on Your behalf according to His will and His ways!

Personalize this prayer.

Dear Lord,

I am so forgetful. Why do I think that I can handle my own affairs? You have promised that You will guide and provide and yet I'm prone to try to figure things out on my own. I'm sorry. Please forgive me for trying to be self-sufficient. I don't want to lean on my own understanding any longer. I desire to lean on You. Guide me in the way of righteousness. Direct my comings and goings. Help me to be discerning in regards to how I process my thoughts and to weigh everything against the Truth of Your Word. Remind me often that this battle is not my own, that You've already paid the price for victory. I'm going to rest on Your unchanging grace and bask in Your faithfulness from this day forward.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
