Prepared To Be Amazed

Joshua 3:5 "Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

Think about a time in your life when you were full of anticipation for a special day or full of excitement over something that was about to happen. I will never forget the day that our first grandchild was about to be born. We were both giddy with excitement and bursting with joy that was almost uncontainable. We had been waiting for months to meet this little guy and wouldn't have missed his birth day for anything else in the world.

I imagine that the Israelites were feeling the same sense of exuberance as they prepared to pass through the Jordan river into the promised land. They had literally been wandering in the wilderness for 40 years because of the sin of their parents and had heard the stories of old and the promises of God. And now, they were hours away from stepping into the land that God had promised to give them.

In preparation for their departure into the promised land, Joshua told the Israelites to consecrate themselves. (Joshua 3:5) In other words, they were to have no unconfessed sin in their lives and they were to make themselves clean vessels available for God to use as He desired. This command was the Israelite's responsibility. Joshua told them that if they did this then God would do amazing things among them, supernatural, out of the ordinary, extraordinary things.

God expects from us the same obedience as the Israelites and desires a pure, holy, repentant heart. He wants to do amazing things in and through us but He can not make Himself known among us or use us for His purposes if sin prevails. So, are you set apart for Him? Are you preparing your heart and mind for what He says in His Word? Are you willing to be obedient no matter the cost? If so, God promises to do amazing things in and among you! Get ready . . . .

Personalize this prayer.

Dear Lord,

If there is anything in my life that displeases you, please reveal it to me so that I can confess it before you. I don't want anything to come between us. I so want to be used by You according to Your purposes and Your ways. Please make me a blessing to others and let Your light shine through me so that they may catch a glimpse of who You are and hunger and thirst for Your righteousness. You are the everlasting God who holds the answers to all of life's questions in the palm of Your hands. Your know our coming and going and You actually go before us to prepare the way. Thank You for sincerely caring enough to protect us from the wiles of the evil one. You are my go to for every thing and I humbly thank You from the bottom of my heart. There is no one like You and there never will be. May Your kingdom come on this earth as it is in heaven and may many more come to know You before You call us all home.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
